Yep.. sun dog... which reminds me I had a cracking "display" in August, never got round to posting an image..

A few feature in these..

Upper tangent arc, circumzenithal arc,  upper suncave arc..

Nothing on show in Leeds at the moment though..

As others have said, it's part of a sundog. Fairly common to see that part of them to be honest. I've seen what you posted many many times from SE UK. If you ever see that again, look above the sun at about the same distance, you might get lucky and see a rainbow streak. 

Now, seeing something like the other image posted would be fricking amazing.
