Interstellar comet C/2019 Q4 (Borisov)

Recommended Posts

Recent discovered interstellar comet C/2019 Q4 (Borisov) imaged in color on September 12, 2019 at 3.36 AU from Sun its brightness is magnitude 17 showing in this image a size with only 18 arcseconds in which can be observed elongated shaped toward northwest. Analyzing color channel shots seems to me that comet shines more in blue, but I can not confirm it, have to wait some days to achieve more detail.

The interstellar comet 2I / Borisov imaged on October 4, 2019 just when passed to an angular distance of only 15 arcminutes from barred spiral galaxy NGC 2903 in constellation Leo. One month after be discovered brightness of comet keeps around magnitude 17 and with a small tail, although is not perceived in this image beacuse its short exposure time.

The interstellar comet 2I/Borisov imaged on 2019 October 12 by Hubble Space Telescope. Given public availability of raw shots I decided to download and process them in my way, mainly to leave out the false color as we have seen them published and to study PixInsight workflow for pre-process Hubble Telescope raw images. This very high resolution image has a field of only 1 arcsecond square.

Comet 2I/Borisov imaged on 2019 December 10, in its perihelion and reaching maximum brightness with magnitude 15. Martin and me taken at that time our best image of this interstellar visitor in which we achieve register it in color and with its dust tail well defined.
