Hello from Missouri

Hello!  My son and I pulled out our Orion Starblast 4.5 this evening and enjoyed viewing a very bright moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. Reminded me of my days as a young teen gazing at the stars through a telescope 30+ years ago. My best friend's science teacher dad would come out and point out everything in the sky.  I'm looking forward to learning a bit more about telescopes and astronomy again.  My interest always seems to increase in the fall since cooler weather and earlier darkness makes for better viewing.

My kid's attention spans are better then they were a few years ago (aside from the iPads and video games) so there is a bit of interest in the stars and planets when we head outside and actually use our necks to look up.  Now I think we are ready for a Barlow lens (maybe it's just me that is interested). Anyone have some good advice on purchasing a Celestron X-Cel 3x vs the Orion 2x Barlow lenses (or something else) that is good for my Orion?

Thank you!

Hello and welcome.

What part of Missouri? The wife is from St. Louis, moved down here decades ago to Fla.

Still have a sister in law  near Warsaw.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I'm in the Kansas City area of Missouri. I'd rather live in Florida though!  We usually hit Destin or Sanibel for vacation.
