Anyone imaging Uranus and Neptune?

Hi all, I'm interested in imaging Uranus and Neptune this autumn but I have to confess I've only ever seen Uranus once in my lifetime.  No jokes please, lol. I just thought as they are higher than Saturn or Jupiter. I have a 12inch f4 Newtonian and a 2x and 5X power mates. I'd be using an asi 224mc colour or an aside 120mm with lrgb filter wheel. Is this feasible?

Definitely feasible, Uranus up at at around 51 degrees altitude this opposition so a good target.  Neptune a bit lower at 32 degrees but still worth a shot.  I've read that using an IR pass filter can help reveal cloud bands on Uranus.  Finding the planets and focusing can be a challenge at high powers.

Gave you used a filter wheel/barlow combination before on your 12"f4?  If not you might want to check you have enough in-focus, though should be fine if it's an imaging newt with loads of in-focus.

I have imaged both with a 8" SCT. If you get more than a round and not over-exposed disc of the right colour, you are doing well.

Imaging Neptune's moon Triton was more interesting.

I have imaged Uranus in my 8" Celestron SCT @ PF back in November 2008 . Not imaged Neptune tho . But as mentioned don't expect a lot but it is very neat to look at .

I have done in the past and am planning to in the coming months. Uranus is certainly a little more rewarding than Neptune. One thing i will definitely be doing is capturing lots and lots and lots of frames. This was with 12,000 very slowly gathered frames, which took nearly an hour. I might try my asi290 as well.

This is Uranus and several moons, the polar cap is clearly visible to the upper left of the planet disc.

This was captured with my C9.25, asi224mc, Baader 610 filter.

Neptune was a little less inspiring, same capture technique.
