Solar prominence, 25 August

Hi!

This is my first sketch on the forum. Had checked the GONG solar H-alpha network before starting, think my transparency was a bit worse than usual, prominence being fainter than expected, but seeing was good (as it uses to be with the 50x magnification!)

H-alpha: PST single stack and 8(-24)mm zoom, magnification 50x

Pencils 2B and HB, blending stump, eraser, paper Canson Imagine A4, clipboard, solar radius 50 cm with compass. Sketch at the eyepiece.
Then turned 180 degrees for uninverting image, information added (directions according to GONG), photographed and cropped

Amazing sketch. I've just come in from viewing the Sun and that gorgeous prominence is now like some cosmic fountain The great thing about viewing the Sun is that with our faces towards it, all our shadows are behind us 😀
