Drive for Vixen Super Polaris Mount

Recommended Posts

Got a hold of a Celestron C8-SP scope. It has a Vixen Super Polaris GEM.

I've been looking all over for an original MT-1 motor and controller for RA drive, but have fallen flat.

I see dual controllers and motors sold on EBAY for CG4 Mounts, and I'm wondering if this will work on

my mount? Any advice or direction appreciated.

Is this any good? Not sure if the motors are compatible with the SP or not so please check carefully.

I found this post on the Cloudnights forum:

https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/362825-drive-for-early-vixen-super-polaris-mount/?p=4674995

This indicates that the Synta (ie: Orion and Skywatcher) drive systems will work but the motor mounting points might need some DIY work.

Not sure about the motor set that Stu links to above :icon_scratch:

I'm not sure either John, although this link seems to imply it should work with all the mounts listed which includes the SP.
