Gum 53 First version

Hello Astronomers,

As I'm doing more night shifts at work and so I'm getting the opportunity to process some of my back log of data on the laptop...

Last night I processed my first framing of Gum53 in the constellation ARA, a total exposure of 1 hour and 48 minutes before I stopped the exposure and reframed to what I posted about a month ago.

I wasn't going to spend too much time on this data but I didn't want to just delete it either, so even though its nothing spectacular, I'm still sharing the results of the rejected data.

      Hello All,
      I have Good news and bad news... The good news is that the image which I'm sharing with you was one that I had doubts that it'll be anything worth sharing but turned out OK.... the bad news is that this is the last image I'll be imaging for possibly a while since on the last night of imaging SII subs, my CGEM mount died and who knows how long it'll be before I either fix it or get a new mount. I've started another topic about what happened and my suspicions of what caused it in the "Mount Discussion" equipment section here.... 
       
       
      This is a close up of Gum 53, NGC 6188 or Fighting Dragons, emission nebula in the constellation Ara image with my cooled 40D, through the 8" SCT at 2032mm focal length.
      The total exposure for all subs is 50 hours and 46 minutes.
      There was plenty of HAlpha signal, bit less OIII but still quite strong but SII was very weak.... I had to resort to 2400 second ISO1600 subs to get any data visible... I guess imaging this object at f10 prolong the necessary exposure time.

      Close up image of Gum 53 or NGC 6188 (AKA Fighting Dragons) imaged in narrowband and SHO channels combined into "Hubble palette".
      NGC6188 is an emission nebula located 4,000 light years away in the constellation Ara.
      This image was exposed with a cooled and full spectrum modded DSLR, though an 8" SCT at 2032mm focal length.
      The total exposure through all narrowband filters is 50 hours and 46 minutes.

      Hello All,
      Before I imaged this nebula in narrowband, I begun with imaging the figthing dragons in natural color by gathering OSC subs through the IR cut filter.
      This is imaged at 2032mm focal length, through the 8" 8SE, with the Cooled modded 40D DSLR.
      Total exposure time was 4 hours 15 minutes in one night.

      The Fighting Dragons of Ara ( NGC 6188 )
      Bright Nebula NGC 6188 and open cluster NGC 6193 are embedded 4,300 light years away in the Sagittarius arm of our Milky Way galaxy and can be seen with the naked eye south of Scorpius in the constellation of Ara.
      With powerful stellar winds and energetic ultra-violet radiation, massive stars sculpt the interstellar gas and dust of the nebula into wonderful shapes and cause the interstellar gas to brightly fluoresce.  
      Closer to the hot young stars of the cluster, bright blue “sunlight” reflects off the clouds of gas and dust to produce the blue reflection nebulae seenin the image.
      Magnitude +5.19, RA 16h 41m 42s, Dec -48deg 48' 46".
      Approx. 3800 light years away.
      Image details:
      This is an HDR image constructed from exposures ranging from 2 seconds to 240 seconds in length.  The aim was to capture the faint stars and details in the nebula whilst at the same time maintaining colour in the bright stars without clipping the highlights.

      Mount: Skywatcher AZ Eq6 GT.
      Guiding: TSOAG9 Off-Axis-Guider, Starlight Xpress Lodestar X2, PHD2 .
      Camera:
      Nikon D5300 (unmodified) (sensor 23.5 x 15.6mm, 6016x4016 3.9um pixels).
      Location:
      Blue Mountains, Australia 
      Moderate light pollution ( pale green zone on darksitefinder.com map ).
      Capture ( 24 June 2017 ).
      8 sets of sub-images with exposure duration for each set doubling ( 2s to 240s ) all at ISO800.
      34 x 240s + 10 each @ 2s to 120s.
      Processing ( Pixinsight - 19 Aug 2017, 13 Jan 2018  ).
      Calibration: master bias, master flat and no darks.
      Integration in 8 sets.  HDR combination.

      This is a reprocessed version using the data I captured earlier in the year...
