In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of this gigantic adventure, we can see another sunrise at the site of mankind's first manned landing. Armstrong and Collins are easily visible in the photo, while the Aldrin crater is still in the dark.
Seeing this picture at such a low angle of illumination, with hills and craters emerging from the darkness, I really realized what Armstrong and Aldrin must have felt.
A strange world, an inhospitable world where any mistake could be fatal.
Really a great leap for man and a small step for mankind!

In fact the picture is not so good friend Ruud!
The angle of illumination was extremely low, the sun was actually rising at the Tranquillitatis base, which means that we have to raise too much gain for that region to be clear and so the rest of the photo in the light is overexposed.
A difficult photo to do that with bad seeing sins for lack of fine definition.

I actually like the light here. It's silvery on the rocky outcroppings and the wrinkles on the maria are well defined.

But I believe you of course: now you must make us a better image! 🤪

I wonder, can any current or future ground based observatories see the tracks made by the lunar rover? ELT or GMT scopes under construction?.

Current no, future most likely not.

GMT not big enough and ELT would likely only show pixel or less on the lander.
