Total Solar Eclipse NOW!

Not an easy one to get to.

Not sure if I'll get to see another. Saw the 1999 eclipse under perfect conditions on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and saw the 2006 eclipse from a beach in Turkey also under perfect conditions (wearing nothing but Speedos and eclipse glasses, stylish!) . Not that I'd done that much advanced planning :)

@GavStar is there, so hopefully he has clear skies. It is very low down so needs a good horizon.

Hope he's got a good spot. My fear would be of cloud on the west coast of South America but it should be better over the Andes, but then it's getting towards sunset for totality. Great photo opportunity though.

My goodness, eclipse watching whilst budgie smuggling, that is indeed a minority hobby ;)

Other biscuity/cakey confectionary with an orangey jammy middle and chocolatey topping are available. ;)

Some of them may be better than Jaffa Cakes, which I ate a full packet of when they "fell out of the cupboard" when I was passing the kitchen on my way to bed a couple of nights ago.

Didn't they used to be bigger?

That's a lot of solar eclipses!

Were you practising?

The Lidl's jaffa cakes are definitely smaller (but still pretty good!).

Other German discount supermarkets are available. ;)

So you we're the one, lol. I was in Turkey for the 2006.

That was nice but a lot of atmosphere in the way and some dodgy camera work.

Yes, I thought that too.  Slightly disappointing.

We should have been in Turkey, but were in A&E in Surrey instead as Mike went down with food poisoning in the airport hotel 😨  But we were in US in 2017 and France in 1999 😎

Maybe Chile next year.....😁

Nice!

I found a hotel right on the center line in jut north of Side. Just strolled down to the beach as totality approached to find the Sky and Telescope tour group right there too. Me in my Speedo, they in their anoraks! Seriously, hoods up and all!

Are doing a fast-forward version to show the kids tomorrow 😉  and are you bringing the jaffa cakes?!?

Helen

Too right bro!

There was a NASA feed too.

Slightly odd, but did have footage of a prominence too.
