moondog
As some of you may know, since I'm in NZ until end of March 2009, I've joined the local Nelson Astronomical Society. Yesterday a few of us helped one of the members, Paul, to erect a run-off roof obs. that had been previously owned by one of the members.Stunning location out in the country. Good dark site. As it's only a 5 minute drive from where I'm staying I look forward to being able to use it. Paul has a 12" 'push-to' dob., but wants to get an EQ mount and start imaging.A few pics attached of the construction. It was a great afternoon for the work. It should be up and running in the next week or so. Perhaps the door to the obs. will get a lick of paint before then!MD

moondog
You can get places like this with 1+ acres and a 3 bed house, 10 minutes from the city (even in 'rush hour') for about 170,000 UK pounds. 8) MD
