Age of the earth puzzles me - somewhat

Recommended Posts

How can scientists be so sure of 4.5 billion of years. Wherres the proof if you have rocks and minerals aging at different rates, and then the radiometric dating. Oh, that puzzles me a lot but if you use one type of isotope can you correllate it with the other types.

Have any really brainy people here looked into this one at all? I'd love to know how it was done :withstupid:

The oldest rocks on Earth are some 3.7-3.9 billion years old, given the time it takes to form these rocks then that puts the earth at some 4+billion years old.......the difficulty comes in knowing how long the earth formed from solar debris. A true age will never probably be known!
