Planet/Star right of Moon

Recommended Posts

Hi there,  I am looking at the moon right now and there's a planet or star to the right of it as of 2245 in Long Melford, Suffolk, England. Any ideas on what it could be? I don't have any good programs to work it out, so if you have any recommendations for a program (Windows, apk) that's useful, that'd be helpful too, thanks muchly!

By Jove! I thought it was bright enough to be a planet, so early in the evening. Thanks a lot, FaDG!

Jove is right! 😁😁😁😁😁

These days SkySafari 6 Plus is discounted up to 75% I think.

You couldn't probably go much better than that, it's a great piece of SW.

Had almost full moon setting around 5am this morning

From where I am, about 2 o'clock, was Jupiter adjacent to the moon

Saturn was almost over head

John

That's right John. Must be quite a sight having them overhead like that!!

On Windows, I suggest Stellarium

Stu

This morning as leaving home around 4-30, I had perfectly clear skies

With the moon rising later, Jupiter and the moon were further apart, and Jupiter was ahead of the moon

Was going to take a pic, felt distance was too great

You know where to come for your next star party

Cheers

John

Hi All

Just had message come up in Planetarium APP

Conjunction tonight Saturn with moon

Might be worth seeing if can get a pic

John

Thanks John. If it ever stops raining here, I might give it a try. Looks like they are under 2 degree apart when Saturn transits the meridian, getting closer as they head toward the horizon. Worth a look at 5.30 or 6am in the UK.

Hi guys

Tried taking attached last night

Been almost full moon, Android camera did not like brightness of the moon

Both Jupiter and Saturn about equal distance either side of the moon

Sorry about poor quality

Picked up some other light source in background

Something to do with Android camera

Cannot do anything either about having clear skies, and virtually no external light pollution
