IC 2944 (Running Chicken Nebula)

 

This is my first Narrow band image

IC 2944 is an open cluster with an associated emission nebula found in the constellation Centaurus, near the star Lambda Centauri at a visual magnitude of +3.1 and lies 420 light years away.  It features Bok globules, which are frequently a site of active star formation.  IC 2944 lies around 6500 light away from Earth and its around 75 lights years in diameter.

Its a bit hard to make out in the 72ED as it lacks resolution. The running chicken is just to the left of the dark Bok globules

There's a small bird like structure on the left, but I had to google to find another image.

In that image I can see a chicken's head to the upper left, looking towards the left.

Funny what we can imagine in clouds.
