An active sun! 9 May 2019

So I needed a change of focus this afternoon (PhD probation process is stressing me out!!) so as the sun was popping in and out of clouds I thought it would be worth a go.  I was using the solarscope 70mm filter set on a WO 72.

I started with the celestron 274 camera, and then a powermate, but there were so many dust bunnies (despite cleaning) that I gave up!  But the activity made it worth trying something else.  So grabbed the asi1600 mono from the obs, and stuck it in a 2.5 powermate and off I went (in little bursts between clouds...)  The combination of big field of view and power worked surprisingly well - still a full disk ?  The downside is full frame kills frame rate down to 3 fps ?

Stacked in as!3, sharpened in imppg, and finished (including false colour in photoshop).  Click for higher resolution.

I'd be interested in advice on whether I should bin on the asi1600, and whether a bit of scaling down post-processing might work too.

Thanks

And this is a play with the non-powermate data from the little celestron 274 camera - haven't used the stretch setting on IMPPG before!  Thsi hasn't had the photoshop treatment as I quite like it as it is!
