Your pier looks good!

I used half blocks, 8"×8" for mine, cemented together to height, then poured solid. 

Worked good but I had to add another block to get the height taller.

That is what I did too.  I put the top block on it's side to allow attaching various mount adapter plates.

It only took a few hours once I got the hole dug.  The west Texas ground was hard as a rock.

One thing I've never understood about the Todmorden pier is why the pier adapter isn't screwed down tight and flat to the top of the pier. It always seems to be perched an inch above it just on the four bolts. Surely bolting it flat to the pier would be more stable? (I know I must be wrong, as everyone does it that way, but I don't understand why)

Some mounts need access from below for the retaining bolt (eg my Vixen), so you need to set the adapter plate up and allow enough room for hand access.

Hi I use a large barbeque cover , leave  my HEQ 5 out all year round under it never had any problem.
