Check your solar filter !

Recommended Posts

Over wintered in a sealed container. First thing I noticed was a black spot on the silver side (Baader Astro film - about 4 years old). Holding it up to the sun , I noticed this let light straight through . I addition there were several smaller holes.

I can only think that this is due to pollen damage. It might be worth having a find check and lightly blow brushing the surface after use. In any event , it is good practice to alwaysIMG_6841.thumb.JPG.7efcfe32d3b2836990da6935152f22fc.JPG check your filter before use. Black spot at 12.00 and various other minor ones. Safe viewing !

Yep. Every time I use it, which isn't very often, I always make a point of holding my Baader astro film filter up to the sky to make sure there are no holes. It just ain't worth taking the risk.
