Complete beginner advice Celestron astro fi 130mm

Recommended Posts

HI

I'm a complete beginner and have a similar question.  I'm thinking of buying a Celestron astro fi 130mm newtonian telescope what would I expect to see and what clarity? https://www.celestron.com/products/astro-fi-130mm-newtonian-telescope

Can't wait to get a telescope and explore the skies.

Thanks loads

David

This thread should help with what can be seen:

It may also be worth considering whether the Celestron astro fi 130mm with its sky positioning will be a better buy than a lower cost Dobsonian (e.g. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/dobsonians/skywatcher-skyliner-200p-dobsonian.htmlscope that is good for viewing but requires a bit more knowledge of the sky.

I would also definitely recommend getting the Skyliner 200p as it’s probably the best value telescope you can get for the money.

If you need something portable though, I’d advise you to get Skymax 102. I started out with one of these, and was very pleased with it.

A pair of good binoculars (e.g. 7x50 or 10x50) will help you along the way. Also consider downloading Stellarium on your computer. It’s a free sky map. ?
