Thanks, that might settle an argument I'm having with a work mate who is a Sony aficionado, lol

Canon do use Sony sensors in some of their cameras. AFAIK. 

I am pretty sure Nikon do also.

I'm not aware of Canon using Sony chips. Which cameras ?

I gather some Powershots have Sony sensors and there are rumours that a DSLR or mirrorless is getting one.

It would give the advantage of better control potential being in a Canon camera rather then a Sony.
