Here is (most of) Auriga taken with a Tokina 28-70mm lens, at 70mm F5.6, taken on a Star Adventurer mount.  27 x 119s stacked in APP and processed in DSS.  This is uncropped full frame.  I'm just trying to learn the ropes of widefield images.  This is also really helpful in helping me to learn where the more common DSOs are eg IC405 and some of the Messier clusters.  If tonight gets clear I will try the centre portion with my 180mm lens.

There is a smaller version added too since the full size jpeg is 38mb!

Thanks for looking.

Adam

Lovely that. I do like wide field shots of constellations. It's always such a revelation to see just how many stars there are invisible to the unaided eye. Auriga has become one of my favourite constellations too for sweeping by binocukars.

Thanks guys. It was clear for a short while tonight so I managed a few more subs of Auriga with my 180mm lens.  I used it wide open so will be interested to see how it looks when I get the images onto my pc. It’s kind of nice lying out on the concrete, looking up at the sky, all very hands on, compared to the usual setup where everything is operated from the pc. I could grow to like it

That's four Messier clusters ticked off.

Nice framing.  Did you 'dither'?

Paul

Thanks Paul. No I didn’t dither. This is just tracking on the SA and exposures controlled via an intervalometer. The camera was running off a battery too.

Beautiful image, Adam. Auriga is one of my favorite constellations to explore in the springtime, full of starry vistas and the home of M36, 37 and 38!

Regards,

Reggie :)

Nice image. Good colours in the stars. I always seem to struggle with that.

Back out to the same part of the sky with the Nikon 180mm lens this time, and at F2.8.  32 minutes integration time in 2 min subs, ISO 400, on a SWSA mount.

I am really just trying to get my bearings with widefield imaging still, learning the equipment and also processing!  I need to pick up a LPF i think, but open to advice, attempted mosaic background was badly affected.
