Philips ToUcam Pro II

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know where I can obtain one of these???

I've done numerous searches and can only seem to find reviews!!!

I've heard this is a blinding little webcam for astro work...

My funds are rather limited, so if anybody can suggest an alternative... I'm all ears (or eyes)

Regards

Brian

Not sold new any longer, so your best bet is Ebay. Some great deals can be had on there if you are lucky and no one else spots it.

There is a Toucam III now which has the snappy name i can't remember..SP900NC or something?

  • 4 years later...

I found and won this tonight http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/External-Usb-Webcam-/261130323702?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&nma=true&si=z4h6cFL0A6szurTakMZtSnyUQu4%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc from the look of it it is a ToUCam Pro 2 which I won for £33.

I've been ebaying buying and selling for years and one thing to note on this auction compared to one exactly the same which went an hour or so earlier for £76 (There is also a buy it now for £116!!) is the title. Always look for mis-typed or miss named items. This was sold as "External Usb Webcam". Also try friday ads and gumtree (I found several logitechs on gumtree).

Hope that helps!

Cheers - I just went through another forum to get it all going. I checked on the Philips site about Win7 drivers -

"Can I use my webcam with Windows 7 or Vista? At the time this webcam was designed, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems did not exist.

Unfortunately, the internal hardware of the webcam does not match the requirements of these operating systems.

Therefore we cannot provide a software upgrade (driver upgrade) to support Windows Vista or Windows 7.

We are sorry that we are not able to support you in this matter."

Ha ha ha - yeah right, I checked on a few forums and found how to change a few numbers on three lines and voila; the camera is using a modified SPC900 driver with three lines changed in the code. Then I installed the SPC900 video capture software and bingo! I just need a nose cone now :/ And a mount. Oh and a telescope lol. I'm hoping to use my mates Dob next week...
