PEC training without a camera?

Recommended Posts

My main imaging DSLR is out of business for the time being. The only other camera I have is a zwo asi 120mc guide camera and an AZ-GTI in eq mode. For the time being I want to figure out PEC training so I can make use of the clear nights. But is it possible to have PEC training in phd2 or some other software without a camera taking exposures? Any help is appreciated.

The old shool method of PEC was to view a star on the celestial horizon and near the meridian with a high powered reticle eyepiece.

Your manual corrections to RA due to PE are recorded and will improve the PE.

But you have a 120MC, why not  set up PHD2 to guide with that on the imaging scope while the mount's PEC records the RA corrections ?
