Altair or Celestron Smartphone Adapter

Have a basic smartphone adapter that isn't that bad but am considering something better

The two I’m considering are the:

Celestron NexYZ smartphone adapter

Altair Self Centering Smartphone Telescope Adapter

Seen plenty of positive reviews of the Celestron one but not much on the Altair one which is a fair bit more expensive but is it that much better?

Which eyepieces will you be using it with John?

With my current adapter have been using a 15mm plossl. Have tried some wider fov eyepieces but wasn’t happy with the results.

Well no one seems to have any opinions on which smartphone adapter to get but I have decided to order the Altair one. I do like the self centering aspect of it which will make it easy to experiment with different eyepieces.

Will do a report on it.

Sorry John! I think you have made a good choice. I have the Orion SteadyPix which is their version of the Altair and it generally works well.

Hopefully should arrive on Friday. Now if only the weather will cooperate or it will be testing it out on chimney pots etc. ?Also remembered to order a bluetooth shutter release.

I find myself in the dark garden shouting 'Cheese', 'Shoot' or 'Smile' at my phone to take the pictures. Goodness knows what the neighbours think if they are out!
