Hi, I'm Nikki

Long time armchair astronomer, decided to get my hands dirty about 6 months ago.

Member of Bradford Astronomical Society.

Started with Celestron Astromaster 130eq md. Now back in it's box. OTA is fine, hate the mount.

Using old 10x50 binoculars, having fun.

Saving for goto 8inch SCT

Hi Nikki, welcome to the lounge.

My daughter won an astro master 130  last summer at a star party here, I really hated the mount as well, tighten it up and you are way off

from where you were pointing in the first place.

But the optics are good indeed, after trial and error I noticed if you tightened the knob just enough to hold the ota  steady you could slew

around much better.

The little telescope gives some very sharp views.

Hi, Nikki, and welcome to SGL.

For the best part of three decades, I used nothing more than a pair of 7x50s and still have them out while the scope is doing its "imaging thing". And I still get a thrill when I stumble across things I did not know were there. So don't knock the binos.

That said, an 8" sct is a nice instrument ...
