March New Moon Spotting

It’s nearly time for my monthly New Moon spotting challenge. I use the term New Moon in its classical sense of one’s first sighting of the Moon after its conjunction (Dark Moon) with the Sun. Some sharp-eyed folks might want to attempt spotting the one-day-old Moon after sunset on Thursday, March 7. Other observers should have better luck during the following evening.

Photos and descriptions of the young crescent Moon this month would be welcome additions to this thread.

Where I am, moon will rise at 6-46am, set at 7-19pm

I use an Android APP Lunar Phase, to track the phases, eclipses, of the moon

Had a 2% illumination yesterday morning, approaching new moon, when leaving for work around 4-30am, just above the eastern horizon

Moon rose at 4-10am, yesterday morning, clear skies, with Venus and Jupiter higher up

Tried to image with my android phone, and did not work out

Moon was a a big blob, due to poor, light which Samsung phones do not like, and probable handshake
