First Successful Autoguiding!!

Recommended Posts

Well last night I had my first ever successful autoguiding session... The only problem was that the clouds rolled i15 minutes after setup :( Still got my first ever 5 minute exposure so pretty happy with that ;)

Its a good feeling!  It seems to be an exceptionally difficult thing to get set up in the first place, what with drivers, USB connection issues etc etc etc.

But then it all clicks into place 🙂   I suspect you will be saving up for a coma corrector next, to ensure nice round stars all across the frame, not just in the centre. (See how they look elongated towards the edges, all pointing towards the centre?)

Ha!  I was just about to post exactly the same both about that great feeling when you first get autoguiding going and the coma corrector.

Yep, Thats probably the next thing on the list... Then a 365 cover so I don't have to set it up all the time... Then the big spend of a proper camera and filter wheel ;) haha It's a never ending list of things to buy! :)

Well done.  Bane of imagers lives is autoguiding.  I'm always struggling with mine, often due to the seeing being atrocious 50% of the time.

Managed to get clearer skies tonight! Currently at 100 minutes of 5 minute exposures :) Plus they are all looking good so far...
