It may please the Astro experts on here to know that knowledge of the subject is at an all time high. Amongst the answers to the question “Planets or constellations that contain an A in their name” on Pointless tonight, ‘Earth’and ‘ Orions Belt’were two proffered. Mind you, the next round on book titles wasn’t a great deal better. Although they do say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. It certainly won’t win you a ‘coveted Pointless trophy’

Was "Earth" not an acceptable choice?

Of course it’s a perfectly acceptable choice but the contestants on such shows could try to be a bit more adventurous sometimes.  Most people know their Zodiac sign for example. The person who gave it got knocked out early anyway.

The idea is to get a correct answer that no-one else gave, isn't it?

I think I'd probably go for something like Corona Borealis or Canes Venatici in that case :)  Oh, or the giraffe one, only I can never remember exactly how it goes.  Something to do with camels...

Being a British program, I would go for something from the southern sky; Chameleon or Octans, perhaps.

I find pointless a difficult quiz to watch, the questions are too limited to one particular subject for too long.  If you know nothing about the subject at all there is naff all you can do, and it's often for more than one round.

Much prefer Egg Heads and The Chase.  Also like Tipping point.
