Maybe the manual is incorrect. Thats definitely an EQ2 in Skywatchers terms. Some other brands might have other names for their mounts though.

I think for seeing other posts you can operate the EQ mount in an altaz fashion. Makes for simpler left right up down adjustments which initially may be found easier to navigate with.

The EQ1 has a lesser capacity. Suitable only for short tube scopes really:

Same basic shape but if you saw them side by side you would notice that the EQ1 is quite a bit lighter duty than the EQ2.

This is the EQ series produced over the decades, and up to the present day, from the EQ-1(the smallest), to the EQ-8(the largest)...

The EQ-1 and EQ-2 do appear quite similar, but the EQ-2 is beefier and sturdier, and the next step up in size.

For the EQ-2, you loosen, or tighten the axis(whichever is needed).   For the RA-axis, at the butt, or rear of the axis...

You don't want it too tight, nor too loose; just right rather, for a slop-free, smooth rotation, and with no binding.  There may be a plastic cover over the access.  If so, you simply pry it off.

For the DEC-axis, the adjustment is here...

You simply loosen the three screws around the lock-nut, screw or unscrew the nut to adjust, and then tighten the three screws back down.

My endeavour may appear having been formidable, at first, but it was quite easy actually.  In so doing, I wanted my mount to operate as a well-oiled gyroscope.

For just under £70.00GBP you can't really go wrong. Not much money lost when you decide to upgrade.

Many light-years ago I purchased a Prinz Astral 550. Oddly enough it came with the the same eyepieces, [0.965"], and almost the same accessories. The only difference was mine was supplied with a 2x Barlow lens. I rarely used the SR4 & Barlow lens. My first ever 'serious upgrade' then was a 6mm Ortho, which I still use and is shown below...

 

...and which was an improvement over the SR4 and with a 0.965" - 1.25" adapter on the right.

That eyepiece will be a lot better than the supplied eyepieces. Plossl's give 50-52degree afov / Ortho's give 40-45degree afov.

In the case of your own, for now, just make certain that both axes rotate freely, especially the RA-axis.  If you do that, you can add an inexpensive 9V-battery motor-drive to the RA-axis and track any object automatically, hands-free.  The drive has a speed adjustment, and to where you'd be able to keep an object centered with an eyepiece for hours if you'd like.  You could go inside for dinner, then an hour later go back out and the object would still be centered in the eyepiece...

But again, the RA-axis must rotate smoothly, as should the worm-shaft of the RA-gear assembly, and to prevent damage to the drive.  I've explained all of that here...

As to dealing with your expectations of what might be possible, if you haven't seen it you want page 1 of this thread - scroll down def. look at the pictures and if possible read the accompanying text, then realise that the tiny pictures are probably with a scope that might be a bit more capable than your own.

If you ever buy a different scope look at a Dobsonian design - it's all considerably simpler.
