ROWAN UPGRADE OR NOT

Well I'm buying a Skywatcher Heq5 pro goto mount, just wondered if it's worth buying the standard variant or the rowan upgraded variant. 

Thoughts please, buying new from FLO

Depends what you'll be using mount for.

If it's for imaging, then yes go with belt mod. If its for observation, belt mod will make mount be quieter and run more smoothly. For AP belt mod provides better tracking and guiding performance of the mount.

I did it on mine and am very happy that I've done it. Don't know if upgraded mount on offer is also tuned, but it's worth doing as well. Since I fitted belt mod myself, I also changed bearings on my mount for high quality ones, re applied grease and adjusted everything.

The modded mount isn’t a great deal more is it? £100 or so. I’d future proof unless you’re absolutely definitely not going to dabble in AP

Go for the rowan upgrade if you can ,if your thinking of AP
