I found a really good deal for the canon 400d second hand, I have been looking for a new camera for a little while. But I was wondering if i was to do a full spectrum modification do I need to replace the ir filter with some glass? If I don't will it work taking pictures on the scope? I don't wish to use any lenses. Any help is appreciated

You wont need to replace the filter with any glass unless you want to keep your autofocus working accurately. For astrophotography through your scope (or even lenses) you will be manually focusing so auto focus is unnecessary.

There is a piece of glass that will sit over the bare sensor after you remove the IR filter once you reassemble the sensor after the mod.
