issues with star adventurer clutch mount

Hi everyone,

I just bought myself the Skywatcher star adventurer and am not able to loosen the clutch knob. When I rotate the clutch knob, everything else rotates with it including the polar scope. I have tried to loosen it, but it is not working. I am wondering if it is somehow jammed or not. I have tried to hold the mounting platform firm while rotating the clutch counter clockwise or clockwise but with no success.

Can someone help please

This is quite common apparently and happened to me just last week. I couldn’t release it using the method in the YouTube video but did succeed by gripping one of the raised ‘fins’ on the clutch knob with a pair of pliers having first protected the plastic with a piece of, cloth. A slightly risky procedure perhaps but it did move without too much force.

thanks a lot Steve. Now I just need some filters to cut all this light pollution around me.

Hi Abdul, I use the IDAS range of LP filters and find very good indeed.
