Planetary on a QHY8

A few years ago I had a quick dabble with a QHY5 using EZCap and enjoyed it. At the time I bought a TeleVue 4x PowerMate (1 inch)

I now have a QHY8 with a Moonlite focusser and would like to have another play. A couple of questions:

1. What is the best way to get my focal distance correct integrating a 1 inch PowerMate in the chain. I currently have ED80 --> 0.85 Focal Reducer/Field Flattener --> 55mm gap --> QHY8L

2. What software is the best (Easiest) for a QHY8, presumably capturing AVI and using registax or similar?

Hmmmmm,

the x4 Powermate is a 2” fitting....the x5 is 1.25”.

Sorry mate, I use an ASI 1600 and ASI 174 to collect AVI/ SER files for solar imaging...

I don't do AP, but for long exposure spectroscopy I use an AtiK 314L

I would remove the focal reducer - you don't need it for planetary. Sharpcap should work with that camera.

I think I remember needing extension tubes but can't be sure?

Why not set it up during the day and find a very distant object - if you can something far enough away.

Again, that's trial and error really, guess I'll just have to do that and hope I have the right extensions around me
