When telling the wife / girlfriend the price of things apply the correct currency conversion.

I use  the standard astro price conversion of £ to WifePounds.

Currently this is about 1 : 0.65  but goes up and down depending on her mood.

Being in the euro zone, I just use the EUR : GBP. Doesn't require any calculation, just say you paid 10 euro when it was 10 quid. Regarding the SWIMBO radar, I still don't know how I slipped the Solar Spectrum H-alpha filter + ERF + Baader TZ-4 telecentric + Vixen Ortho under the radar. Not exactly small kit, and came in a new case too

Maybe you accidentally looking at some shinny shoes when you took in the package?

I let the courier drop the package off at a nearby camera store, and picked that up when the missus was away. That was simply cunning, but the appearance of an entire new alu case should have raised eyebrows. When I set it up she should have noticed subtle differences in the solar set-up too. No matter, the opportunity to scowl at the new purchase has been and gone, so now I have had the new set-up for AGES ;)

It's amazing how quickly eyepieces accumulate once your imaging equipment has sold. I've had the ES100 case a while now but most of the 1.25" case has appeared over the last couple of months!

Old 24 Panoptic has found a new home.
I promise to use it far more often that the previous owner, and it's in a good company.
My collection is complete(for now)

Finally ditching the shoebox! Got a number of astronomy camping trips lined up and knew that everything needed more protection and to be sealed from dust. Found this case with a gasket around the lid. Planning to use the middle for solar filters.

I have now found a use for a very nice wooden wine bottle box that has been sitting around doing nothing for a year or two.

This is my new case for the accessories for my Polarex-Unitron 60mm f/15 refractor...

Here is the specification of the eyepieces taken from an old user manual I found online.

The item in the bottom right hand corner is the Achromatic Amplifier, which is a 2x Barlow that slips into the nose of the diagonal.

It seems that the 25mm stock eyepiece has been lost

They knew how to make boxes back then Derek. I know it counts for nothing as to regards the optics but i don't think you can beat a good looking wooden box. Not that there is anything wrong with it but now it's all plastic and velcro.

I do have one very nice ali case that my son has his Lego in, it would cost a few quid i am sure, it was given to me by an old friend, I am told it is made from a wing of a crashed aircraft though I don't actually believe that. Strong though it is i don't have any liners for it now.

Alan.
