Thanks Stu😉.

Yes, 2" Barlows aren't that common it seems, but I do think they can be useful.

I had a GSO Revelation 2" a few years back..it was quite good optically, but the aluminium tube was very thin and could "flex" somewhat in the focuser..I wouldn't trust it with a heavy 2" eyepiece!

The AP is so much more robustly made, and I'm looking forward to trying the various permutations with and without the main extension tube, and so on..

Dave

Optically and mechanically they are excellent. I often use mine with more extension to get a higher multiplying effect.

Stu,

Do you have any info on what different magnifications you get with which length extensions?

TBH, I've never properly got my head around how you calculate these things, same as with binoviewers: I'm never exactly sure what magnification I am getting..I tend to "guestimate" it from a comparison with a cyclops view with a known magnification..:glasses12:

With apologies to anyone with a sensitive disposition given the state of the foam in this case. I must order some new stuff. This completes my ‘big case’ after the arrival of the lovely Pentax XWs.

My ‘small’ case could also do with some different foam but everything is held securely. Think I’ve squeezed about as much as I can in there!!

Some lovely glass in that top case there stu but my OCD is going mental here as they don't run concurrent 😆

Are the two sets used for differing rigs?

Since this pic was taken, there's been a 9mm added to the Morpheus line-up, which completes my Morpheus set, as I don't want the 14mm.

Most of the others are all pseudo Masuyama's such as Ultrascopic, Parks Gold, Eudiascopic and Ultima pairs for binoviewing. And a pair of 16.8mm Super Abbe Ortho's.

The pseudo Masuyamas are 2X  35mm, 2X  25mm, 2X 18mm, 2X 12.5mm, 2X  10mm & 2X  7.5mm.

Singles are 20mm Ultrascopic, 5mm Ultrascopic & 3.8mm Parks Gold.

Then theres my high power set of Vixen HR's.

Sorry about that Baz 🤣. I did try but the Pentax would only go in in that order 😱.

Not really specifically for different scopes, but I tend to use the smaller set with lightweight scopes and for quick sessions. I’ve not had the others that long but hope to use them on my larger scopes including the 16” which I have yet to use since getting it!

Similar setup to mine in many ways that mate tbh, I also have a set for my fracs which tend are lighter than the set I use for the 14" dob. Then I have a small set for the grab and go ( More on the G&G in DIY when I finally finish the build).

I need to rearrange all of my glass in their cases and replace the foam, they are all looking a little tatty these days. Foam not EP's  😄

Hope to get that done this next week and will post up the pictures once done, looking good.

Time I gave my updated cases an airing.

The Dob (first) case come complete with a 2" concenter in with it. I have now sold on the powermate as it wasn't working with the T350pro. I have instead added the 8mm delos and 7mm Pentax. The two EIS convert the 17mm Nikon to a 14mm and the 12.5mm one to a 10mm.

The 2nd case has binoviewers which I only really use on the moon, still haven't managed to get my head around solar with them. The 15mm EP goes in the spotter, no other use. I usually use the zooms in the fracs, the 6,5,4mm ep's are when I am pushing the power on the fracs. Could have used the barlows but that upsets the weight balance so prefer the fixed focal length ep for higher power. Barlows are for the binoviewers.

The last little case is a grab and go case for my current project of a prinz astral refurb.

The modest collection is definitely getting there with the addition of some higher end eyepieces this last six months or so.

The medium term goal is to replace the Starguider 5mm and Baader BCO 6mm with their Vixen SLV counterparts. The former eyepieces do the job but I'm smitten by the 4mm SLV. It hands down has beaten my previous 4mm eyepieces in every way, so I have high hopes the 5mm and 6mm will do the same!

Longer term I will replace the Altair 24mm UFF. The presented image, eye relief, fov etc I'm happy with however I'd prefer an eyepiece of similar quality but not as heavy...

I only have the vixen 25mm plossl which are used in binoviews on the moon mainly but they do provide lovely crisp contrasted views so I can only assume that the SLV's will give similar as I understand they use the same glass.

I have been thinking about the same sizes as you for V.H.P. viewing in the dob as the price is so attractive but the narrow fov puts me off a little.

You will have  to pop up one weekend for a star party to share equipment pal 😉

I am certainly happy with my 6mm SLV. Great eyepieces, especially in smaller scopes.

Nah, I think I've got all focal lengths covered with what I have :wink2: Shame they don't do a 7mm though...

You'll have to hunt down an original Vixen LV 7mm.  It was dropped for the NLV and SLV lines.  The 7mm Pentax XW is decent enough, though.
