Looks great Mark.

Impressive case too! Is that a custom job on the insert that the eyepieces fit into?

Thanks Jeremy- yes it’s a simple design using a couple of cut sheets of hdpe and hex spacers- you can see the construction here

it makes for pretty hassle-free ep swapping

I have a new family and they have a new home.....

Meet the family:

This is the new home, Tamrac System 6 bag:

Tap it, unwrap it:

IMG_0262.thumb.JPG.1db7d3735af1d9d7dff94a2439c3c1d6.JPG

Take out a layer:

IMG_0261.thumb.JPG.fa6962b4670b709305e71012f4f1a108.JPG

Take out the last layer:

IMG_0260.thumb.JPG.09da5754cccc881f536dd02ec865c957.JPG

Just await some Kood lens pouches for the eyepieces and all will be done.

A big move from the previous Maplins case, but sadly the catches were getting iffy and the pluck foam was well plucked.
So it has been retired and the Tamrac bag brought into play.
I do forsee some more bags for other carry uses as well, they store easily, do not offend Mrs. W unlike the Maplin case,
and they also are more easily sat on the Khazi shelves as well.

Let's see how this version of EP store goes.

A really top class collection Alan. All bases covered by the looks of it.

A couple of surprises for me in the eye relief department at the short end, but I won't worry if you say so. :happy7: Looking really good.

Very similar to how I go about things lately. All the extra pouches and zippers are too useful. :happy11:

Oops didn't know there was a topic started about showing your ep and accessories case, so I posted it in what the postman brought you topic, I'll repost here if admin allow it, hopefully the original will be deleted then.... My eBay purchase of a second hand aluminium camera case, after a clean up it now houses my ep and accessories in one place, rather than using an old laptop case. I'm happy all accessories in one place and easily transportable if necessary (and a bit of space left for extra eyepieces) I have a copy of turn left at orion and the Cambridge star atlas but won't fit in here, so they'll go in my laptop case now and the Phillips star atlas is a quick reference book.

Hi Mike 👋, Good points you make, so in answer....

1. Yes, the eye relief at shorter end is tighter; but the glasses come off here.
One day I foresee a XW 5mm but funds do not allow this presently.

2. Your bags for each EP was my inspiration, they will have padded lens bags in my case,
But the 3.4 HR being such a peach will be kept in its Rose Plastics type Bolt Case for secure protection.

I like the camera bag idea. I have plenty kicking around and is going to be the logical progression when my collection grows out of it's small 'starter' case. I see you have some nice Olly film cameras too 😀

An APM 30 UFF is on the list for next year... need to sort my short set out first.

Alan a great set of EPs. I am curious because you state that you want a Pentax XW 5mm EP when you have a 5mm Tak LE - is there a specific reason for that wish? I ask because I want to purchase a quality 5mm EP and I am wondering whether I should get the Pentax XW, TeleVue Delite or the Tak LE - hence my interest in your statement.

Had a shot myself. I think in future I will use a much MUCH sharper knife. I have some spare foam so I can re-do that layer if my fussy-side gets the better of me.

The case was a perfect size, off eBay from a seller getting rid of the boxes that some stage lighting originally came in.

I might try that pluck foam for the upcoming EP case.

My collection seems to be expanding and I'm just in the process of selling something to pay for the last of the core EP's. After that I will need to rehash the case but probably need to replace the foam and do it properly this time. Someone had a link to replacement foam I recall, anyone have it handy?

I used this lot:

And chose "packaging foam cut to size".

Great looking set you have there Sunshine.  The 9mm Morpheus is next on my eye piece list, I have read very good things about it. 🙂

My 9mm Morpheus is my goto eyepiece, good eye relief, razor sharp, nice FOV and, no glaring flaws i can see.

Another new addition this morning, and my first green and black one. Managed a good deal secondhand,  similar to a new Delos that I was going to buy. It’s slowly coming together, bit of a mixed bag, but the 6mm ethos is next on the list to replace the ES. At that point I’ll need to replace the foam too as it’s a bit butchered.

It's been a very long time since I last posted here but I felt I must give a quick update about my 2" case.
I have just acquired my very first bit of green and black - and it is truly monstrous!

Time to update your signature then, Joe. 🙂👍

The evolution never stops.  I wasn't getting on with an OVL Nirvana-ES 4mm, so from the proceeds of the sale, a 5mm BST Starguider and a used but like new GSO 2.5x barlow were picked up. Both perform admirably in the 150/750 newt.

"Barry's Case" bought a few months ago is still in good condition and survived the Kielder sticky mud...

There's room still in the case for two or three eyepieces should I feel the urge...
