Orion Nebula - different approach!

Tonight it is wet and cloudy (again) so I thought it would be fun to re-process one of my images in a more 'artistic' (??!!) manner so the following is my rough (in more ways than one) experimental processing attempt.

I've spent most of the last 5 years producing maps like that (digital elevation models) at work... and never once thought it could be applied to astrophotography.

I guess the challenge is to turn it into a 3 D model....

Looks just like my left Knee when the front wheel of my bike locked whilst I was furiously pedalling

downhill. I was trying to catch up my mates on the way to swimming in the Solway Estuary.

I finished up in hospital getting gravel removed from it.

Chicken in the sand....very good Rog.Took me a wee while before i noticed the choock.Wondered what you were on about.

The nebula could almost pass for a lunar crater,a very bright one but it definately looks like one to me anyway.The more i look at at it the more i like
