Orion Nebula - different approach!

I've spent most of the last 5 years producing maps like that (digital elevation models) at work... and never once thought it could be applied to astrophotography.

I guess the challenge is to turn it into a 3 D model....

Looks just like my left Knee when the front wheel of my bike locked whilst I was furiously pedalling

downhill. I was trying to catch up my mates on the way to swimming in the Solway Estuary.

I finished up in hospital getting gravel removed from it.

The nebula could almost pass for a lunar crater,a very bright one :lol: but it definately looks like one to me anyway.The more i look at at it the more i like
