Thalestris24
As the Moon was passing by my window in the East this afternoon, I thought I try the combined UHC filter and Baader long pass red (610nm). Camera - qhy minicam5s mono. Scope - TS 80mm Photoline APO F6. Mount - EQ3 Pro. Captured with - SharpCap Pro. Not sure what the exposure was - a few millisecs, I think Also, as it got darker (Bortle 9 anyway...), did some live stacking (through thin clouds) of some part of M45 and with just the UHC filter. Unguided, auto align, 30 frames, total 569s: Of course, the thin clouds got ever thicker so that was that . Hopefully I'll get an opportunity to try some proper DSO one day... I think I really need a reducer as the fov with the Minicam5s at 480mm is really too small. Louise
Thalestris24
Thanks to 12DString I think I can confirm that the above is from pretty much the middle part of M45: Louise Just to make clear - these images are snipped from 12DString and saved in greyscale. I just used them to match up with my own

It's not a very good image as they go but it's enjoyable (gratifying?) to watch an image appear and improve over a matter of seconds/minutes. It's a bit like developing a b+w photo though not quite as dramatic! I'd like to get a different camera for more serious eaa, I think. On the other hand, even eaa imaging opportunities seem to be ever rarer these days . If I get an opportunity soon I'll try to do longer, and hopefully better, images though not too long as that would defeat the object! happy-kat
It seems a good solution to your imaging opportunities.

Yeah, though I have a 115mm apo + atik383l+ patiently waiting for a long exposure opportunity...
