Talitha
It's time for that big old smiley face in Auriga again. The asterism is huge and makes a great bino or widefield scope target... always makes me giggle.

Talitha
Thanks again, it's a fun target whether visual or photographic. Here's a (very poor ) film image I took of it a number of years ago.. silly looking, isn't it?

Azelfafage
Well done Carol, shows that sketching still has a part to play - it's just that I'm no good at it How someone could make a charioteer out of that group is puzzling - our ancestors must have had vivid imaginations. Talitha
Thanks. Azelfafage, I've never understood why a Charioteer would be crouched down holding a Nannygoat and her two Kids. There are only a few constellation asterisms that look (to me) like the thing they're named after. Makes a person wonder what was in those ancient bonfires. (I'll moderate myself if that last comment is unacceptable but hey, it's true. )

gary1968
Nice sketch Carol, IIRC I seen this from Kielder star camp in the spring of this year, I thought it was something I had 'made up' myself. Seeing your sketch reminded me of it and now realise that others must also see this.Gary
