Had another attempt at a sketch just before the moon came up last night.  Found it a little tricky after I had drawn the circle so big - so maybe not totally accurate to the edge of the field (the sketch is maybe a little too  stretched out) but I am quite pleased with the result .  I am about to buy some black card and white ink to see how I get on with that..

Great sketch Mark, looks pretty good to me. I took the liberty of making the background black, looks even better I think.

I've added my Smartphone image recently taken for comparison, you've done very well I think, not easy getting the star spacing accurate. I think the orientation is mirrored, couldn't work out how to correct it!

Great to see someone sketching/drawing rather than taking photos. This is something I want to have a go at (as soon as there are some clear skies again!).

I've seen some lovely drawings of moon craters by  a lady called Emma Parfitt from SEKAS, and I also enjoyed a couple of articles in recent magazines about drawing and keeping notes of observations.

Thanks for posting.
