Almach

I had never realised before what a beautiful double star Almach (in Andromeda) is.  Split it at 80x in my 8" reflector tonight, and got a great view at 150x; definitely a new favourite double star. Highly recommended.

Very lovely, almost my favourite double, but Izar probably beats it by a short head.

This is an image of Almach with my small refractor (ED80) - because of the relative intensity, the centre of the brighter component is bleached out slightly.
