Draconid fireball

Recommended Posts

During this year's Draconid meteor shower, we were lucky enough to witness an outburst. Comet 21/P Giacobini-Zinner is the source of these meteors and the comet itself just made its appearance, so activity was above normal.

At some points we could see 4 meteors per minute. They usually came in short bursts, the peak - for as far as we were able to witness- happened in the night of 9 october.

I had set up a small all-sky cam where I was able to capture some of the brighter meteors.

But one of them really put up a show.

It was captured over more than 7 minutes, unfortunately I wasn't able to extend the gif as -ofcourse- my setup stopped recording for some reason.

Still, the evaporating trail is nicely visible.

I hope the GIF plays.
