Old mirrors and lenses

Hi folks, looking for some more advice please...

My wifes dad had tried to build a telescope years ago, and there are a few parts we have found while looking through some of his old stuff. Unfortunately he passed away long before i met my wife, and she has no idea about any of the equipment, all she knows is the telescope tube was “really big and really long” (not much to go on and not something i hear her say very often ?)

Anyway, I have a few mirrors and eyepices here and I've no idea if they can be used / refurbished.

Any advice or information would be appreciated... I would have absolutely no idea about where to start with any of it and dont even know how big a project it is building a telescope, but im guessing its not an easy task. I think there is another large mirror hiding somewhere which i’ll add if i can find it

thanks

Brian

If you can carefully measure the angled mirrors (narrowest and longest) and the diameter of the circular one (I'm guessing 110-130mm on that from the image), someone could probably work out what you could make with them.

I'd also check youtube guides to cleaning mirrors.

At a high level, it is easy enough, get a long tube and wrap it around the circular mirror, suspend the angled mirror aimed to a hole you cur in the side of the tube, and you are laughing.

In reality, a little lot more complex. You need to do sums as well :) Diy 6inch Newtonian Reflector Telescope: 10 Steps (with Pictures)

Those are nice EP's and (Japan) Barlow he had there. I would suggest to you as keepers. The Mirrors do look very tired. They would need a re-coat, which is not that cheap I'm afraid. The smaller mirror looks ok, but a tad small.

Would suggest with the amount of secondaries you have that there should be another larger primary which would be interesting to see.

If you are not going to do anything with the mirrors then the classifieds section may be the best place for them.
