Moving on from Epsilon Lyrae, I put my weapon of choice, the binoviewer into the Tak FC 100, with a pair of 30mm Ultimas giving 61 X , and just settled down to observe. It is so easy and relaxing using both eyes and I have spent many long sessions doing nothing else. I could see craterlets in Plato at this power, and decided to see if I could see more with a higher power, the atmosphere being really quite stable. A couple of 12.5mm circle T Ortho's rewarded me with 3 possibly 4 at 148X. I fancied I could see a couple more as well but I admit that was only because I knew they were there, and the marks on the crater floor which I could see were not identifiable.

More often than not I use 24mm Pans and they are superb, but just sometimes the 30mm Ultimas are preferable.
