Yes, I just looked at Mars at x300 and it was quite steady and very sharp - a definite phase, polar cap and dark surface markings.

Yup, lovely view of them from here as well -- I noticed whilst I was shutting the chickens in for the night.

Hi James,

Just grabbed a quick shot with my canon 600D and 70-250 lens at 250 f5.6. 1/200 sec at ISO 400. Slightly out of focus, but got them both in.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Still a great image in its own right, you can see them both, and a very atmospheric image. I can almost hear the Howling lol.

Had a look at both comparing views through a 127 Mak, 8" Dob and 30" Dob. Very turbulent seeing so rather poor images, specially extrafocal showing "flowing water" syndrome. Could make out some blurry markings and light albedo areas but difficult to hold a good focus.    ☹️

I enjoyed views through the binos as well, very nice. And grabbed a quick snap of the pair over the city at 50mm.

Some nice shots there. They do look good tonight. I was just heading home form somewhere and looked up to see the Moon and Mars pair. There was a nice vapour trail going across the moon too. It would have made a very effective photo. No camera with me of course!!!
