SharpCap Pro

I have found out what the problem has been. I assumed that the altitude scale on the eq5 Pro Mount May well have been roughly accurate. I set it to approx 52.5 degs.

This evening I removed the polar scope and inserted my laser pointer into the aperture expecting the beam to be pretty close to Polaris. It was about 15 degs out!!!

so much for skywatchers scale accuracy.

I adjusted the altitude still with the laser pointer for guidance.

went through the polar alignment procedure in Sharpcap Pro and without any problems I Platé solved and got a good polar alignment.

looking at the altitude dial on the mount and it reads 67 degs.

what a palava.

Anyway it is sorted now.

thanks guys

A bit late for you, but just for the record last night I used the Sharpcap Polar align and my ~5' 'good' alignment went to 14" 'excellent' in no more than two minutes. I can get 5-minute subs on the HEQ5 without guiding at focal lengths up to about 300mm - I know because my computer has shut down twice - once for an update and last night because I didn't plug the charger lead in properly - and both times I didn't actually lose any subs!

How do I let Sharpcap know I've renewed?

Just setting up and it tells me licence expired but I renewed on 12 September.

OK, I've found a new licence text in an email on my laptop.

For some reason Outlook seems to have blocked it on my desktop.

Working now!
