NGC1499 - The California Nebula

I've lost count of the number of failed attempts that I have had at this object! Is it just a rather diffuse object or am I missing a trick? Tonight, I finally got some detail on it. Taken with my ED80, M25C with 28 subs. of 300 seconds.

Funnily enough, yes, I am hoping to add some Ha data to it as I suspect that this will reveal a lot more detail.
