Moon Occults Delta Cancri - North America - Early October 4

The waning crescent Moon will occult (cover) the magnitude +3.9 star Delta Cancri for observers in North America during the early morning of 2018 OCT 04.

The current series of 19 monthly Delta Cancri occultations extends from 2017 NOV 10 to 2019 MAR 17. However the large majority are not visible at nighttime from any particular location. The next series will commence on 2026 NOV 29.

The upcoming immersion will occur on the lunar bright limb and emersion on the dark limb. Observers on a graze path will witness the star winking on and off as lunar hills and valleys pass by. Those between the two paths will see a full occultation.
