Canon 1000D modded. How do you know?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

If one was to have obtained a Canon 1000D modded camera (IR filter removed), is there any way of telling/knowing that it is a modded model other than long exposure imaging of objects (I.e M42) ?

You could point a TV remote at it whilst taking an image. You should see red.

Remove any manual settings and take a normal day time shot. It should appear to be pink/red in colour.

Even if my 1000d is set to auto white balance, all photos are decidedly pink.  It will be obvious.

Could you explain, not sure what you mean

I mean that the camera should register the IR beam from the remote.
