If you are not planning to image, Simple compass alignment will be good enough, I would not waste my time for proper Polar alignment in such a case, Just align the Finder Scope properly - it will help a lot! RolandKol
Once set up, Turn on the mount, input data to the hand controller (don't forget to use USA date pattern Month/Day/Year) and do One star alignment (for the start). Once you will need more accuracy, 2 star aligment. You can use SyncScan app for NEQ5 to get coordinates and other relevant data for Input. Android app is here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skywatcher.synscanapppro Good Luck! P.S. It will be difficult to choose the initial star for alignment without Stelarium: Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noctuasoftware.stellarium Windows/Mac/Linux: https://stellarium.org/ Or simply: https://stellarium-web.org/#/
RolandKol
This is a nice tutorial on how to do 2 star alignment on AZ mount, but it's exactly the same on EQ mount you've got Just instead of the screen, you will be checking Finder Scope and Scope Eyepiece. And if yes does it need the skywatcher wifi adaptor?
Ronclarke
You only need the WiFi adaptor if you want to control the mounts movement. I have one and it is far superior to the handset! Ron
RolandKol
1 hour ago, astroegy said: i will see the stars through the eyepiece of my telescope or align them through finder scope? Both... At first with a finder scope, which will be not very accurate, so once done as good as possible on the first star, use the eyepiece to align more accurately. Yes, App does connect to your mount and you can do both ways, via WiFi adaptor or, using USB Cable + Laptop and the app for PC. The second, USB cable way, is not so portable, but cheaper and a better way to go if you will decide to start imaging, as Mount will not "listen" to another Imaging apps (like EQMOD or PHD) via WiFi adaptor.
