Imaging without tracking or GoTo?

I think the short answer has to be 'no'. GoTo is not essential for imaging, but some kind of tracking (prefereably equatorial - AZ is very limiting) is. You might just get away with planetary imaging if you are capable of keeping the planet in the fov while you are taking the avi, but DSOs require longer exposures and they will inevitably blur.

If imaging is the way you want to go, do yourself a favour and before you do anything else get a copy of Making Every Photon Count from FLO - it will save you money and heartache in the long run.

Ditto. That is the best read for AstroPhotography by a country mile.
Also check anything on YouTube by Nik Szymanek / Pete Lawrence (Deep Sky Videos produced by Brady Haran).
Sara Wager also has a great web (and Flikr) site.

All the best. :)
