Mag 9.1 Nova in Ophiuchus

Recommended Posts

Just found these reports through the Latest Supernovae page:

http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts/alert/Gaia18cfo/

https://wis-tns.weizmann.ac.il/object/2018fee

Mag 9.11 nova in Ophiuchus. Should be easy binocular target, even if low in the sky. Fingers crossed for clear skies soon

Is it the same as this one? https://www.aavso.org/pnv-j17422408-2053088-possible-nova-111-mag-ophiuchus

otherwise is the second in few days in Ophiuchus.

Yes I think it is.  The chart with the nova Oph 2018 No 3 details I've just done, see below matches with the alert position. The position on the above chart does not seem to match with the 9.1 mag. nova.

Curious, this mismatch in listed positions. Best to have a look at both position. Maybe the 9.1 nova was mislabelled in the Latest Supernovae page as Nov Oph 2018 3, but is in reality a different one. I cannot imagine the GAIA coordinates to be so far off

Perhaps one of the links to the AAVSO charts was wrong ? Either way another nova to see.
